Let’s talk about soft skills and technical skills.
Soft skills have eight key areas: communication, teamwork, emotional intelligence, problem-solving, adaptability or flexibility, time management, leadership, and work ethic and professionalism.
On the other hand, technical skills have six main areas, and each area includes many categories. As a visual communicator, I work as a graphic artist and multimedia artist across different industries.

Communication is important, but without the drive to grow and be proactive in developing real, practical skills, progress becomes limited. True professional strength comes from the willingness to keep learning, improving, and taking initiative especially in technical work.

From my experience, I have seen this reality firsthand. In one company I worked with, many applicants impressed the interviewers because of their strong communication skills, even though their technical skills were lacking. Meanwhile, candidates with solid technical expertise were sometimes overlooked simply because they were not as confident in speaking.
However, I strongly believe that technical skills can always be improved through courage, continuous learning, and dedication to one’s craft.

To be honest, I am not very strong in communication skills, especially when I get nervous while speaking. That is something I feel is lacking in me. However, when it comes to technical skills, I consider myself an expert. There are many applicants like me who do not pass interviews because we are not very confident in communication. But let’s be honest some people who are very strong in communication skills are not always as strong when it comes to technical skills.
