How to become a Sales Associate
Formal education may be an advantage when becoming a Sales Associate. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are important to pick up on non-verbal cues and alter sales strategies when dealing with different clients.
- Finish tertiary education. While some employers are open to hiring high school graduates, most still prefer a vocational diploma or a college degree. You can also complete a certificate course related to sales or marketing to boost your resume.
- Gain at least a year of work experience. Some entry-level roles you can try are Sales Representative, Customer Service Representative, and Sales Support. With these positions, you learn skills and knowledge in product selling and interacting with clients.
- Advance your career. After working as a Sales Associate, you can move on to Senior Sales Associate, Sales Manager, or Store Manager.
