Sales Representatives use speech and presentation skills to establish the value of a good or service to prospective buyers. They generate leads through cold-calling or referrals, and facilitate the journey of a customer from inquiry to closing the sale. Sales Representatives answer customer queries, inform them about promotions, and coordinate the payment process from customer to business. They can be found in practically every industry, and typically work in the field to meet with prospective customers. Sales Representatives get paid on a commission basis for the amount of products or services they sell.Tasks and duties
- Generating sales leads and creating client databases.
- Mastering information on a brand and its offerings.
- Presenting products and promotions to prospective customers.
- Meeting and surpassing sales quotas set by the company.
- Preparing and coordinating sales documents such as contracts.
- Answering customer inquiries.
- Collecting client payments.
- Scouting for prospective clients through field work.
How to become a Sales Representative
A relevant degree may give you an advantage when becoming a Sales Representative. Excellent communication and customer service skills are essential for succeeding in this role.
