What’s it like working at SM Supermalls?

    AI summary of recent reviews

Employees at SM Supermalls value the learning opportunities available, gaining valuable skills in market research, tenant selection, customer service, and multitasking. The friendly colleagues and positive work environment are frequently mentioned, with many noting that people are caring, kind, and supportive. Employees also appreciate the good benefits, including competitive compensation for young professionals, employee events, and wellness programmes. Training programmes and supportive management help staff develop their capabilities, whilst the company's stability and clear standards provide a structured workplace.

However, there are some potential challenges to consider. The workload can be demanding, with high expectations for precision and accountability in a fast-paced environment. Some employees mention long working hours, including extended shifts in customer-facing roles. Management can be strict, with structured processes and some instances of micromanagement. Balancing work demands with personal time can be challenging due to workload and time constraints. If you’re a fresh graduate, SM can be a good place to start your career.
The good thingsOn the positive side, you will learn a lot especially how malls conduct market research and select tenants. You’ll gain insight into tenant mix strategies and how different businesses are carefully chosen to fit the overall concept of the mall.
The challengesWorking at SM is honestly very challenging and not for the faint of heart. The workload is heavy and you can really feel the pressure every single day. You have to be extremely careful with your work because even the smallest mistake especially in documentation it is not acceptable. The company is very strict when it comes to processes and since everything is system-based nothing goes unnoticed or unchecked. Auditing is also intense it feels like every cent truly counts. You’re expected to be precise and fully accountable for everything you do. This is not the kind of job where you can take things easy you really have to work hard and stay consistent at all times. The downside is that the salary doesn’t match the workload and level of stress. Considering the amount of responsibility and pressure, the compensation feels insufficient. Overall, it’s a workplace that will teach you discipline and attention to detail but it comes with high demands and stress.

Overall, enjoyable but not recommended as a full-time work. Unfair salary, treatment and no backpay
The good thingsFilling up different products on each isle as a handler of foods and beverage
The challengesThings that should improve is that they should have more items that the staff can use so that it can be easier for them to pick up the products that are piled up.
