Good training ground, but the equipment is lacking
The good thingsI joined PTNI (PTV) as a fresh graduate. As of writing, I've been employed here as a news writer for four months. The starting pay for writers is good. Our monthly tax costs about only 50 0 pesos, so that's good. The environment is pretty alright, too. The newsroom is well-ventilated and most of my colleagues are friendly.
The challenges1. My biggest frustration so far is that it has been four months into my employment and I still use my personal laptop to complete my tasks. My friend, who joined the company the same time as me, was only recently provided her own office computer. Prior to that, she had been using the company's iPad (Imagine constantly switching from one app to another; reading reports, writing scripts on such a small device) or sometimes we would share one laptop, therefore the slow accomplishment of tasks. So I suggest, PLEASE provide your employees with their own office computers as you hire them. And I'm a WRITER, so equipment should be readily available. 2. The company doesn't provide benefits. No Pag-ibig, SSS or anything. You'll have to do it on your own. 3. The company practices endo, not to mention the fact that most of us here are contractual workers. It's disheartening to think that a few days before your contract expires, it may OR may not be renewed (Schrodinger's contract!) and you won't be given a few weeks' notice. So your fate stays uncertain. Goodluck.
