What's it like to be a Call Centre Operator?
Call Center Operators handle inbound and outbound calls to address customer needs and provide sales and marketing services. Their service areas include enquiries, technical support and sales for inbound calls; and sales verification, customer services, collections, surveys and telemarketing for outbound calls. Because the role is customer-centered, Call Center Operators need to be service-oriented and have good communication skills. The ability to multitask is also required as well as thorough knowledge of the company’s products and services.Tasks and duties
- Receiving calls from customers regarding enquiries or complaints.
- Providing services such as technical assistance, orders and payment processing.
- Handling disputes and requests.
- Verifying customer information.
- Submitting reports.
- Calling customers about offers or for market research.
How to become a Call Centre Operator
To become a Call Center Operator, you need at least a High School diploma. No experience is necessary because training is provided. However, Call Center Operators with experience can pursue higher level roles.
- 1.Complete high school.
- 2.Some companies may require you to pass a proficiency exam in English or other languages.
- 3.Gain experience. Specialize in collections, customer service, sales or technical support.
- 4.With a few years experience you could move up to the position of Team Leader or Supervisor.
