The US Peace Corpswas established in 1961 by President John F. Kennedy. It is a US government agency devoted to world peace and friendship. Kennedys executive order in March 1961. The first batch of Volunteers sent to the Philippines in October 1961 included 123 education Volunteers. Since that time, more than 8000 Volunteers have served in the Philippines.
