Southern Maligaya Taxi Inc.December 13, 1994 marks the birth of Maligaya Taxi with only ten (10) Mitsubishi Lancer taxi units running throughout Davao City with a small garage located in Bajada, Davao City. By the first quarter of 1995, the location was moved to a bigger area in Ecoland in order to accommodate a hundred more Toyota Corolla units to service the riding public.In 1997, with the rising demand of taxi services, Maligaya Taxi rose from its humble beginning to a corporation now known as SOUTHERN MALIGAYA TAXI, INC. The garage was eventually transferred to Matina Aplaya due to its increasing number of taxi units.At present, SMTI cuts a big chunk in the market of taxi services with more than 500 air-conditioned units. It has a well-organized manpower structure and equip with the necessary technical facilities to meet its needs. The Corporation has survived notwithstanding the socio-political and economic crises because of its dynamism and flexibility that fared well with the transportation trend of Davao City.
