Sercomm is a solid training ground for fresh engineers who want to build strong technical foundations in SMT process engineering and experience the realities of a high-pressure manufacturing setup. The good thingsDuring my first six months at Sercomm Philippines Inc., I had the opportunity to supervise and coordinate nine SMT production lines, ensuring daily alignment with production targets and quality standards. My role involved process auditing, defect analysis using Excel and Minitab, and cross-functional collaboration with maintenance and quality teams to resolve issues in real time.
I gained valuable exposure to fast-paced, high-volume electronics manufacturing and developed essential skills in data analysis, manpower management, and conflict resolution. I also contributed to line improvements and organized process resources.
The challengesWhile the learning environment is dynamic and offers strong peer collaboration, mentorship from management could be improved, as engineers are often expected to perform independently from the start. Compensation is fair for an entry-level role, but benefits and promotion visibility remain limited compared to other electronics firms.
