A toxic culture that enabled CHARACTER-DESTROYING TENURED LEADERS.
The good thingsIt was a traumatic experience to witness entitled, incompetent, and emotionally immature mid to senior leaders who constantly power-trip hardworking and high-performing individuals. Their unprofessional behavior is not only tolerated but often normalized by those above them, which only empowers them to continue backstabbing others instead of demonstrating true leadership. Despite promoting core values, they do not embody professionalism, integrity, or respect. When leaders like this are tolerated, it becomes part of the culture weakening morale, discouraging performance, and damaging trust within the organization. This is especially evident among those who have been there for more than a year, as the longer they stay, the more they adopt and reinforce this negative behavior. If I were a BOD member or executive, I would remove leaders who tolerate this behavior even at senior levels. But in reality, I am just an employee who experienced this trauma, and only God knows the truth.

This is not a good place for those seeking to have work-life balance and a meaningful careers.
The good thingsHMO is good, Vacation Leaves are above industry standards, offer Stock purchase at a discounted rate.
The challengesNO WORK-LIFE BALANCE. Can seriously affect your Physical and Mental Health. Even on Sick Leave, they will still call you due to work tickets at hand. They do not properly hire resources for their project. Vacation Leaves are hard to avail: Manager always reject vacation leaves filed 3months before. No trainings for growth and if you want to change role internally, success is dependent if you know a tenured employee to the department where you want to transfer. Promotions are dependent on who you know within the management team. Tenured staff are mostly arrogant to new staff member, if you try to raise concerns with your Team Lead, mostly it will be ignored especially when it comes to tenured team members.

Empowering leaders and driving growth through mentorship, teamwork, and a shared vision for success.
The good thingsAs a Branch Head, I find great fulfillment in mentoring and developing my team of Unit Heads—seeing them grow into confident leaders and achieve success in their own right. The opportunity to inspire, guide, and collaborate with dedicated professionals makes the role deeply rewarding. Beyond the numbers, what I value most is being part of our clients’ financial journeys—helping them secure their future and achieve peace of mind. It’s a privilege to lead with purpose and make a lasting difference in both our team and the lives we touch.
The challengesOne of the key challenges as a Branch Head is maintaining consistent engagement and motivation across a growing team of leaders, each with different strengths and areas for development. Balancing recruitment, performance management, and continuous mentoring requires adaptability and focus. Another area for improvement is streamlining support and communication to ensure alignment between branch goals and corporate initiatives. Enhancing collaboration and leveraging technology can further strengthen productivity and overall team performance.

    Good experience
The good thingsCompetitive salary but not that much. Has work life balance and good HMO (up to 4 dependents). Many stayed for 5/10 yrs so that says a lot. Theres a career growth and lots of opportunity for learning and development. Good for fresh grad. Just dont be assigned on operation part (administrative services)-- the teamleaders there are so political. Its hard to get promoted if you're not friends with them. TLs are micromanaging.
The challengesThey are now going 3 day onsite per week. they cant offer full wfh. i cant do this that's why im leaving but all in all, manulife is a good company.

    Nice place w/ good compensation
The good thingsYearly increase based on performance. The company really pays for performance so it inspires you to do your job well and even more.
The challengesNew management implements new processes/ rules that are very similar to a regular BPO company, which defeats the purpose of my working in an in-house company. For example, they added Relationship NPS as part of our annual performance review. This means we have to make sure that our onshore counterparts will always be happy with what we're doing to get better scores. It's like how a BPO company makes sure that their clients are happy despite imposing strict rules on the employees.

My one year experience: So far so good
The good thingsThe salary is quite high compared to other BPO companies in QC. We get to have life insurance and a bonus pay (not the 13th month). The team leaders are kind and friendly. They will help you with everything you need.
The challengesThe account is too hard. You need to be thorough and make sure you don't make any mistakes since you're handling financial accounts and it'll cost the company money if you provide wrong information.

A happy experience because you meet different kinds of people.
The good thingsManagement supports are very overwhelming. Perks are commensurate to performance. Excel more using creativity.
The challengesProspects. Since life insurance selling is peoples business, there were times we were run out of prospects to talk to. To counter this, we have to reach more companies to offer our services.

    Best working experience
The good thingsWork life balance and they truly live up to working better with employees, I feel heard and cared for. Will stay here for good relationship with collegues and management.
The challengesOppurtunity to choose work from home fully. Now our set up is hybrid, where we work from hime in somedays and work on site on remaining days of the week. Career oppurtunities can be improved.
