Impressive achievements that grew out of Roosevelt College’s humble beginnings mark its evolution from 1933 to the present.Roosevelt College Inc. (RCI) is a respected pioneer in tertiary and basic education in eastern Metro Manila and the Province of Rizal. In 1933, the institution was established as Marikina Academy by Marikina Mayor Wenceslao C. dela Paz (d. 1944) as a non-sectarian, private, secondary school in Marikina, Rizal. The Academy closed in 1944 after the death of its founder.Under Engr. Deogracias F. dela Paz’s leadership, 30 years of growth followed during which many of the RHMS campuses were established and, with the opening of elementary courses and later college and postgraduate courses, they were renamed Roosevelt College. With the demise of Engr. Deogracias F. dela Paz in 1977, Feliza M. dela Paz became acting president until Romeo P. dela Paz took over as President in 1979. A new era of Roosevelt schools began with the investment in new infrastructure and facilities in 7 campuses. Significant innovations were introduced in the educational programs and upgrading of the educational delivery system took place.Entering the 21st century, with wisdom gleaned from the past, the school remained committed to the vision of pursuing academic excellence while holding the members of the academic community accountable to the learners and to each other. In 2016, RCI became a member of the Far Eastern University (FEU) group of schools and FEU President Michael M. Alba took over concurrently as the new RCI president.

What’s it like working at FEU Roosevelt?

    AI summary of recent reviews

Employees value the family-like culture and welcoming colleagues at FEU Roosevelt, along with the outstanding school facilities. Staff appreciate that open communication is encouraged, with management acknowledging feedback and suggestions, and top management showing commitment to addressing school problems and office concerns.

However, there are some potential challenges, including a heavy workload with short deadlines that may create pressure, and higher management still developing their approach as they adapt to their roles. Support systems and resources for teaching could be enhanced, with some costs falling to staff, and salary increases tend to progress slowly. Additionally, the school operates with a traditional management approach that includes some micromanaging, which may require adjustment for some employees.

I love working everyday with my colleagues, but the rotten system has been discouraging.
The good thingsWelcoming Employees/Outstanding School Facilities.
The challengesThe organization projects itself as a progressive, learning-centered institution, but this is not reflected in actual practice. Employees face heavy workloads with unrealistic deadlines, along with issues in leadership such as favoritism (especially the principal), and unprofessional behavior (especially the HRs and SVP). Concerns about employee welfare are significant, particularly with the HR department’s handling of salary and benefits. While initial pay may be competitive, salary increases are slow, and employees often shoulder costs for basic needs like teaching materials, internet access (slow), team-building activities, and health insurance (Health Card). Support systems are lacking, including essential resources for teaching. Additionally, the Guidance Office tends to favor students and impose lenient consequences, which may hinder student accountability.
