The company has added great value to both the local community and the greater Philippines economy — generating local employment and supply chain opportunities.With 20 vessel programs delivered since 2012, Austal Philippines has quickly earnt the valued position as the Austal Group's global centre of excellence for commercial vessel design and construction.Drawing upon a proven portfolio of defence vessels, produced worldwide since 1998, Austal Philippines is well positioned to play a leading role in the development of new Philippine Navy capability - and contribute to the growth of the Philippines sovereign naval shipbuilding industry.Austal Philippines is geographically, financially-and strategically positioned to cater to global market demands for high speed passenger and vehicle passenger ferries, offshore crew transfer vessels, windfarm vessels and naval, auxiliary or paramilitary vessels.Austal Philippines delivered its first ship, a 27 metre Tri-Swath Wind Farm support vessel, to the UK in January 2013 and has since then produced four more Wind Farm support vessels, four Offshore Crew Transfer Vessels and nine commercial ferries.In 2019, Austal Philippines delivered three ferries including two 50 metre passenger ferries for Braveline of Taiwan and a 49 metre passenger ferry for SNC Aremiti of French Polynesia.Following a USD$20 million investment over 2012-2017 that included the reclamation of an additional 20,000m² of waterfront land and the development of new hardstand and mooring facilities, additional shipbuilding infrastructure, valued at USD$20 million has been constructed at Austal Philippines. New facilities comprise four medium size Fabrication Bays for modular fabrication and one large (120 metre) Assembly Bay for hull assembly, final outfitting and painting capacity.In 2021 Austal Philippines delivered the largest aluminium catamaran ever to be built in the Philippines — a 109 metre vehicle passenger ferry, for Fjord Line of Norway.A 118 metre high speed trimaran ferry, Bafiaderos Express, for Fred Olsen S.A. of Spain, was also delivered in 2027; the first ever to be built in the Philippines.As of December 2021, Austal Philippines continues construction on the largest commercial ferry (by volume] to be built by any Austal shipyard anywhere in the world - the 115 metre catamaran ‘Express 5’ for Molslinjen of Denmark.
