    The good thingsWorking at Appen gave me a sense of freedom, as I could manage my time while staying productive, and I enjoyed contributing to projects that support real-world AI technologies and innovations. The role helped me become more detail-oriented and disciplined in following guidelines, and I also appreciated the calm, independent work environment that allowed me to focus better. Overall, it was a fulfilling experience that helped me grow both personally and professionally.
    The challengesWorking at Appen also came with some challenges that could be improved. At times, project guidelines were unclear or frequently updated, which made tasks confusing and required extra time to adjust. Communication and support could also be inconsistent, making it difficult to get timely assistance when issues arose. Additionally, workload availability was not always stable, leading to periods with limited tasks. Improving clarity in instructions, providing more consistent support, and ensuring a steadier flow of work would greatly enhance the overall experience.

    It's okay if you have a lot of projects. Not enough if you only have one.
    The good thingsFlexible time and work from home
    The challengesLow payment. Previously, they paid based on Total Worked Hours. However, now the payment is calculated based on Total Decision Time. If your total worked hours have not yet met the required decision time (depending on the project), you will still need to put in extra hours to fulfill the mandatory weekly hours. There was no interview but there's a long and sometimes difficult qualification exam, qualification exams are harder than the actual job type sometimes. Project scarcity. Support takes a long time to reply. Bugs and other tool issue that affects jobs and sometimes it takes more than a month to be resolved. No workload, no pay.
