    The good thingsWorking at Appen gave me a sense of freedom, as I could manage my time while staying productive, and I enjoyed contributing to projects that support real-world AI technologies and innovations. The role helped me become more detail-oriented and disciplined in following guidelines, and I also appreciated the calm, independent work environment that allowed me to focus better. Overall, it was a fulfilling experience that helped me grow both personally and professionally.
    The challengesWorking at Appen also came with some challenges that could be improved. At times, project guidelines were unclear or frequently updated, which made tasks confusing and required extra time to adjust. Communication and support could also be inconsistent, making it difficult to get timely assistance when issues arose. Additionally, workload availability was not always stable, leading to periods with limited tasks. Improving clarity in instructions, providing more consistent support, and ensuring a steadier flow of work would greatly enhance the overall experience.

    It's okay if you have a lot of projects. Not enough if you only have one.
    The good thingsFlexible time and work from home
    The challengesLow payment. Previously, they paid based on Total Worked Hours. However, now the payment is calculated based on Total Decision Time. If your total worked hours have not yet met the required decision time (depending on the project), you will still need to put in extra hours to fulfill the mandatory weekly hours. There was no interview but there's a long and sometimes difficult qualification exam, qualification exams are harder than the actual job type sometimes. Project scarcity. Support takes a long time to reply. Bugs and other tool issue that affects jobs and sometimes it takes more than a month to be resolved. No workload, no pay.

    Overall, Appen is a good company. It hires pwds and provides opportunities for their employees to advance. The salary is good. They also offer on-site and remote jobs.
    The good thingsI was able to grow and enhance my knowledge when it came to communications, and one of the most important things was that they prioritized their employees to get into higher positions instead of hiring external candidates.
    The challengesThe recent layoff. I have been in the company for over a year, and I have worked on different projects and departments. Unfortunately, the company decided to decrease its staff, and I was affected by the layoff.

    Blessed to Find Appen!
    The good thingsYou work at your own pace at home. Great for part-timers but I do full-time here by working on multiple projects. You'll be given opportunities to be more than a simple evaluator provided you excel. I have been very lucky that since I started, I have gotten the great, long term projects here. Speaking of projects, all are different and are SO MUCH FUN! Appen management is aware of the stresses of overworking so they always remind everybody to work moderately. Incentives are also provided sometimes.
    The challengesFor some people, especially the newer once, the payrate is now lower, especially since the pandemic because everybody is now working here. For some people, it takes time to get a single project. Just keep applying and make sure that once you pass, do your best so more projects will be offered, including those that are of higher roles than evaluator. Excel, and the project managers will keep you, even though they are closing the market you belong with. You'll be rewarded greatly if you do just that. If you are on multiple projects, make sure you manage all of them, keeping in mind the SLA for each, to make sure you are not overwhelmed. Don't take in too many projects if you can't handle all.

    The good thingsVery generous company. Good environment. They also have excellent and approachable human resources admins. ISO certified. Awesome benefits A lot of tasks/work, so every after end of your contract they will offer you other project that's suits you based on your performance/record.
    The challengesFavorable for regular employees. If you're irregular employee, you have to be very flexible for any changes in the workplace.

    The good thingsWorking with great, talented people they are nice and acceptable because I am Hard of hearing I can';t sometime s hear clearly but they do their best to make a better communication when they need something to ask , I really appreciate for being part of this company.
    The challengesI believe there's always challenges in every work we do , but the TEAM is very helpful when I need something they response as long as they can :) specially like I said a while ago I am HARD OF HEARING my hearing ability is not a problem to them because I see the TEAM is giving their best that there's no communication barriers! :)
