Warehouse Managers ensure that productivity targets in a warehouse are achieved. They often need to multitask in order to oversee receiving, storage, distribution, maintenance and administrative functions in a warehouse. They’re responsible for creating schedules for Warehouse Assistants, training them, and monitoring their overall performance. They can also plan budgets and calculate project costs.Tasks and duties
- Organizing and managing logistical operations in a warehouse.
- Developing and reviewing strategies to make processes more efficient.
- Overseeing the maintenance and cleanliness of the workplace.
- Ensuring an efficient system of receiving, storing and delivering goods.
- Coordinating with other departments regarding incoming shipments and customer deliveries.
- Ensuring that items are delivered in a timely manner and in good condition.
- Preparing and submitting weekly reports to senior leaders.
How to become a Warehouse Manager
You usually need a formal qualification or an equivalent amount of experience to work as a Warehouse Manager.
- 1.Get your secondary school certificate and if you choose to pursue senior high school consider taking the Technical Vocational track, ABM or GAS strand.
- 2.Hold a valid driver’s license and forklift license if required by your employer.
- 3.Consider completing a bachelor degree in logistics management to boost your employment prospects. A degree can open up a broader range of career options.
