What's it like to be a Tutor?
Tutors help students to improve academic skills undertaken in class and teach concepts that need additional explanation. To do this, they typically travel to students' homes to provide lessons. To effectively relate the learning discussion to each student, they research and customize learning resources used during lessons.Tasks and duties
- Working with students to improve their skills in certain subjects.
- Preparing lessons and assigning homework, tests and assessments.
- Identifying each student’s individual learning needs.
- Reviewing classroom or curricula topics and assignments.
- Clarifying key concepts with students.
- Discussing academic results with parents or guardians.
How to become a Tutor
To become a Tutor, you usually need a qualification in teaching and expertise in your chosen subjects.
- 1.Complete a relevant bachelor degree, such as Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSED) or Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEED).
- 2.In addition, consider completing Student Practice Teaching which will give you the opportunity to apply your knowledge and practice your skills in actual classes.
- 3.To add weight to your credentials, become licensed. To become a licensed teacher in the Philippines, a graduate of BSED or BEED needs to pass the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET). If you are a graduate in a different field, you can take the Teacher Certificate Program (TCP), which is a program for graduates of any bachelor degree who want to become a teacher.
