What's it like to be a Team Leader?
Team Leaders ensure that organizations meet their performance objectives and key results. They’re responsible for training new employees and making them familiar with daily operations. They provide teams with their duties and responsibilities so that workflows run according to a set schedule. They communicate company goals to other employees and implement safety practices to promote healthy working environments. Team Leaders assess the performance of group members, and coordinate with the higher management to discuss and determine the most effective methods to meet business goals.Tasks and duties
- Leading teams to carry out company-initiated programs.
- Implementing strategies and action items by monitoring key performance indicators and line trends.
- Coordinating with supervisors or production planners regarding production scheduling.
- Evaluating team performance and giving appropriate and constructive feedback to improve workflows.
- Recording and monitoring output and preparing reports.
How to become a Team Leader
Team Leaders usually require a formal education and experience.
- 1.While you can take any of the strands during your senior high school, the Humanities and Social Sciences strand (HUMSS) will help you improve your communication skills which is a key skill for Team Leaders.
- 2.Consider completing a bachelor degree in human resources, business administration or communications.
- 3.Consider undertaking an internship or leadership program. These will equip you with the necessary skills to lead a team.
