What's it like to be a Site Engineer?
A Site Engineer oversees a project from the planning phase to the construction phase. They ensure that construction is on track in terms of work flow, budget, and schedule. Site Engineers may work on bridges, roads, pipelines, or water systems.Tasks and duties
- Providing technical advice throughout the duration of a construction project.
- Checking technical drawings and designs.
- Supervising workers’ progress.
- Ensuring proper utilization of budget and resources.
- Coordinating with contractors, subcontracts, clients, and other persons involved.
- Troubleshooting problems which may arise onsite.
- Upholding compliance to health and safety protocols as well as government regulations or policies.
- Preparing reports and the payroll for contractors and workers.
How to become a Site Engineer
To work as a Site Engineer, formal education is required.
- 1.Graduate with a bachelor degree in civil engineering from an accredited university.
- 2.Obtain a license by passing the Professional License Exam.
- 3.Seek one to three years’ worth of experience in a project management role.
- 4.Master the use of programs such as AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Suite.
- 5.Apply for a job as a Site Engineer.
