How to become a Sales Manager
Companies require Sales Managers to have prior experience in sales. This can be acquired by starting in a related entry-level position.
- 1.Complete a bachelor degree in business or an industry-related field of study. This can be accomplished in three to five years. Depending on the industry, some companies require a specific field of study, especially in technology or science-based companies.
- 2.Gain sales experience. To lead a team you will need an understanding of sales principles and how to use them.
- 3.Practice effective communication to build business relationships with colleagues and clients. The role calls for being proactive and engaging with various stakeholders.
- 4.Be flexible in learning the sales process. Some employers develop their own strategies on how to achieve sales objectives. Training and familiarizing yourself with a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system may give you an advantage.
