What's it like to be a Room Attendant?
Room Attendants undertake housekeeping duties in establishments that provide accommodation. They ensure that rooms are clean and well stocked before receiving guests. At times, they interact with guests by answering their queries and resolving their concerns. Because of this, they need strong customer service skills and good knowledge of an establishment’s services and procedures.Tasks and duties
- Greeting guests and attending to their complaints.
- Cleaning and sanitizing rooms.
- Changing sheets and towels.
- Replenishing toiletries, food, and drinks.
- Keeping corridors clean.

How to become a Room Attendant
You do not need a degree to work as a Room Attendant. Strong listening skills and the ability to follow instructions when maintaining an establishment’s quality standards are important.
- 1.Finish your high school education. Most employers require a high school diploma from jobseekers for this role. This level of education equips you with basic math, reading and English skills useful in being a Room Attendant.
- 2.Gain housekeeping experience. Previous work in guest services and using cleaning implements will give you an edge over other candidates.
- 3.Keep on learning. While on-the-job training will teach you the necessary skills for the job, you can further develop your competence by observing how senior staff members work.
- 4.Advance your career. By accumulating years of experience and displaying consistent and exemplary work, you can become a Housekeeping Supervisor or Manager.
