Chefs have strong food preparation skills and are responsible for creating menus, preparing dishes, and coordinating the workflow of kitchen staff. - Scheduling staff and assisting in human resources processes as needed.
- Studying and revisiting culinary practices to bring new creations to fruition.
How to become a Chef
There are no strict educational or training requirements to become a Chef. However, those who want to reach Head Chef might take the culinary degree and apprenticeship route. Culinary Arts Programs are designed to train individuals who are interested in the field.
- 1.Get a high school diploma. Most apprenticeship programs require a high school diploma to enter.
- 2.Obtain a culinary degree. Graduating from a culinary school takes one to four years, depending on the program. The most common qualifications are diplomas, associate degrees and bachelor degrees.
- 3.Gain practical work experience. Knowing how a kitchen and restaurant works is especially important to becoming a Chef. Your exposure to professionals in the kitchen will benefit your career.
