Production Supervisors monitor the production operators who man a factory. They help oversee the operations in a plant and report progress and solutions to the Production Manager. This is typically a mid-level position that manufacturing professionals may be promoted to after years of experience. Production Supervisors are commonly found in the construction, pharmaceutical and food production industries.Tasks and duties
- Organizing workflows and delegating tasks.
- Conducting quality checks of deliverables.
- Training and mentoring production operators.
- Creating and improving production line systems.
- Reporting production progress to management.
- Analyzing and evaluating workflow performance.
- Recording and organizing workflow data and recommending solutions.
- Upholding safety and quality standards.
How to become a Production Supervisor
A bachelor degree and years of experience in the manufacturing industry is typically required for the role, although it is also possible for Production Operators who have demonstrated excellence in their role to be promoted to Production Supervisor.
- 1.Graduate with a bachelor degree in manufacturing engineering, supply chain management, business management or a related field.
- 2.Pursue an internship in the manufacturing industry, or apply for a management trainee program for acceleration into a supervisory position.
- 3.Gain many years of work experience at a factory or plant.
- 4.With experience and further training, you can pursue higher positions such as Production Manager or Manufacturing Director.
