What's it like to be a Production Operator?
Production Operators supervise and monitor the technology used on production lines in manufacturing. They feed raw materials into machines, monitor the performance of equipment, and conduct repairs as necessary. Production Operators are needed in the manufacturing of food, hygiene, pharmaceutical and electronic products.Tasks and duties
- Operating machinery.
- Monitoring progress in an assigned area of a production line.
- Complying with safety and quality standards.
- Liaising with the previous and next lines of production work.
- Troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining assigned equipment.
- Reporting equipment breakdowns.
How to become a Production Operator
Although formal education is not required to become a Production Operator, prior experience manning equipment at factories and plants is highly preferred for the role.
- 1.While in senior high school, pursue a track in technical-vocational livelihood. This track offers subjects that are relevant for this role and can give aspirants an advantage.
- 2.Complete a TESDA-accredited course in power plant operation, heavy equipment operation, press machine operation or another course related to your desired line of work.
- 3.Consider pursuing higher education in supply chain management, manufacturing engineering or a related field. This can help you get promoted to higher roles such as Senior Production Operator, Production Supervisor and Production Manager.
