What's it like to be a Plumber?
Plumbers may be self-employed or work full-time as part of an organization’s maintenance department. Plumbers need to be able to read and interpret blueprints to identify the location of pipes and other plumbing systems. Aside from pipe repair and installation, Plumbers also set up fixtures such as toilets, sinks, water heaters, and washing machines. Their work involves drilling, measuring, cutting and threading pipes.Tasks and duties

- Determining the costs and scope of plumbing services and communicating this information to clients.
- Replacing damaged parts of plumbing systems.
- Working within a schedule and budget.
- Repairing leaks and ensuring the smooth functioning of plumbing systems.
- Maintaining and purchasing plumbing equipment.
- Following building codes and safety guidelines.
How to become a Plumber
Plumbers need a trade school qualification and practical experience gained through an apprenticeship.
- 1.Finish secondary education. Plumbers need to be competent in math, reading and comprehension.
- 2.Secure a diploma from trade school. Some employers prefer candidates who have finished a certificate course in plumbing, which the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) offers. This will teach you materials estimation, installation and assembly of plumbing units, leak testing and other skills.
- 3.Gain work experience through an apprenticeship.
- 4.Grow your career by adding to your experience. Aside from progressing to a Senior Plumber role, you may also establish your own plumbing company.
