A Finance Director works with various company departments in order to drive a financial goal or strategy. They work closely with the company’s accountants to evaluate financial records, produce budgets, and perform regular audits. They also ensure that the company adheres to tax laws.

- Studying financial markets and forecasting.
- Preparing budgets and overseeing budget management.
- Performing regular audits.
- Managing financial teams and building relationships with investors.
How to become a Finance Director
To become a Finance Director, you usually need a combination of qualifications and experience.
Attain at least a Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy, Economics, or Finance. A CPA (Certified Public Accountant) professional designation would be highly advantageous.
Consider completing a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) or a Master’s degree in Finance (MSF).
Seek several years’ worth of experience in an Accountancy, Finance, or related role.
Advance in your career with at least five to ten years’ worth of experience in a senior manager or director-level position.
Progress into the role of Finance Director and eventually Chief Financial Officer.
