What's it like to be an Educator?
Educators instruct students in a variety of subjects across different age groups. They create lesson plans and teach those plans to a class or individual students. They also track student progress and provide feedback to improve their understanding and performance. Educators predominantly work in public and private schools, but also find roles in other settings such as after-school programs and tutoring centers. Beyond delivering traditional classes, these professionals may also utilize technology and hands-on learning experiences to engage students.

How to become an Educator
At the Basic Education level, you need a bachelor degree and a professional license. To teach in Higher Education, the minimum requirement is a bachelor degree although some employers may require post-graduate degrees.
- 1.To be an Educator in the Elementary level, complete a bachelor degree in education.
- 2.To be an Educator in the Secondary level, complete a bachelor degree. Take 18 units in Professional Education, or earn a degree in Arts and Sciences plus 10 units in Education.
- 3.Educators in the Basic Education level (Elementary and Secondary) must pass the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET). After passing the LET, apply for the Licensed Professional Teacher (LPT) certification with the Professional Regulation Commission which allows you to teach in public and private schools in the country.
- 4.To be an Educator in Higher Education (Tertiary level), complete a bachelor degree in the field you want to specialize in. LPT certification is an advantage but not required.
- 5.Continuing education is important for Educators in the Philippines. This ensures that the Educator’s skills and knowledge are up-to-date.
- 6.Continuing education or additional credentials can lead to promotion in rank to Assistant Professor or Professor for Higher Education, or career advancement to administrative roles.
