How to become an Assistant Manager
This role is a step below Manager, and requires a combination of hard and soft skills developed from professional experience and a sound educational foundation.
- 1.Finish a four-year degree. While hirers do not typically specify a degree, completing a course in business management, business administration or a related field will equip you with knowledge in business operations and financial management.
- 2.Gain three to five years of relevant work experience. Employers usually prefer applicants with experience in leadership in their specific industry. Experience in entry-level roles such as Sales Associate, Customer Service Representative, Administrative Assistant or other similar titles may be beneficial.
- 3.Continue learning while working. Participate in seminars, enroll in online classes, and get professional certifications. This shows employers your passion for self-improvement.
- 4.Consider completing higher education. A masters degree in a business-related field can help grow your career. From Assistant Manager, you can move on to General Manager and eventually Managing Director.
