Whessoe was first incorporated in the UK in the year 1790 and the company soon began concentrating its efforts in Power Generation and Oil & Gas plant. Whessoe actually designed and built Britain’s first Nuclear Reactor Vessel. This was the beginning of the nuclear programme in the UK and Whessoe went on to design and build the steelwork for a further 26 nuclear reactor vessels. Coal and gas fired power was also a major part of the Whessoe group’s capability particularly in the Design, fabrication and installation of the entire Piping Systems. The company developed its own pipe stressing software (PSA5) to assist in this.
