Toei Animation Phils., Inc. is a 100% subsidiary of Toei Animation Co. Ltd., the largest animation company in Japan which is often referred as the Disney of the Orient.Toei Phils. was established in 1986 thru a Memorandum of Agreement between Toei Animation Co. Ltd and EEI Corp., a local construction company then known as Engineering Equipment Inc. thru its subsidiary, Industrial Training Corp. of Asia (ITCA).ITCA was to provide manpower services for painting animated cels from Toei. In 1990, the joint venture between EEI and Toei was registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The company was then known as EEI-TOEI Animation Corp., with EEI as the majority owner.In 1998, Toei Animation Co., Ltd. become the majority owner of Toei Philippines and in 2000, EEI sold the remaining shares to Toei Animation Co., Ltd. The company then, changed its name to Toei Animation Phils., Inc.The company started the digitization of its animation production in 1997. First with its Digital Ink and Paint and Special Effects processes. In 2000, it became the first studio in the Philippines and maybe in the world to fully digitized its In-betweening process, followed by the Backgroundprocess in 2004. At present, only the Key Animation process remains in manual operation. In July 1, 2006, the company started its 3D Computer Graphics section which will also serve the requirements of Toei Animation Co., Ltd.To date, the company employs 200 regular employees.
