CBTL has the best products but the worst management. The good thingsThe best thing about CBTL are the initial trainings they provide. That's it.
The challengesAs an employee, you will clearly feel that you do not matter. All the decision-makers care about are sales.
Initial trainings are very competent. But it would seem that they lack training in terms of leadership. Some store supervisors do not feel empowered in their position, and they would even need to work extra hours or even come to work on their day offs. They have a ton of responsibility but would receive little support from their superiors. If there is a problem in the store, they would need to fix it. They would just follow whatever is instructed to them, even if there are moments they do not agree with it. This is the place where dreams come to die and self-esteem hits zero.
At least, how I felt was, they would not treat their employees as people. They don't care if you live far. They do not consider those, which is a shame because team members who come to work in CBTL are some of the kindest people one will ever meet. However, you will see them lose their hope, joy and motivation as days go by.
I hope one day, the decision makers will understand that the reason why customers would love the organization is because the employees love it first. But it's difficult to carry this passion especially if one is emasculated by the very people you seek support from. Working as a barista is not stressful. The stress comes from having to carry out management decisions one does not resonate with. Business is about people. If an organization does not care to understand their employees, they cannot expect their employees to take an extra mile in taking care of their customers. Hence, the loss of the very thing they worry about every day, Sales.
