What’s it like working at Shin-Etsu?

    AI summary of recent reviews

Employees at Shin-Etsu appreciate the good benefits and competitive compensation, including overtime opportunities, shuttle services, and monthly allowances. Many value the opportunities to learn and develop skills in areas such as machinery operation, recruitment, and manpower management. The working environment and colleagues are frequently praised, with co-workers described as pleasant, respectful, and cooperative. Supervisors and managers are noted as being considerate, approachable, and supportive of employee development. Additionally, the company is recognised for welcoming fresh graduates from diverse educational backgrounds, making it an accessible entry point into the manufacturing industry.

However, there are some aspects that require adjustment. The work schedule can be demanding in certain roles, with 12-hour days and six-day weeks being common. Managing subordinates and operators is mentioned as a learning curve that helps develop leadership skills over time. Some employees note that formal training for newly hired engineers could be enhanced, as learning often occurs on the job. The physical nature of the work and workplace temperature are factors that employees adapt to, and for some, the distance from home can affect work-life balance with longer commute times.

The good thingsThis is a good place to build your foundation skills, especially in handling recruitment, facilitating training or seminars among employees, observing how employee relations work, and the overall work of an HR staff as an intern. Your task will be rotational.
The challengesThe challenges I encountered here are minimal to none, as our supervisors oriented us well enough, explained our tasks clearly, and spent time with us appropriately. If the supervisors have overloading work, of course, you are also involved in those tasks.

The work title does not align to the actual work.
The good thingsOpenly accepting fresh graduates regardless of their school or university, good for no work experience in manufacturing industry.
The challengesNo work-life balance, 12 hrs per day and 6 days per week is a tedious working schedule. No proper training for newly hire engineers.
