    Shell good in Resume, not so good fo engineering career.
    The good thingsBest office. Best facilities. Cheap canteens.
    The challengesChallenges are career progression. Shell will highlight you to become “visible” , visible sa managers, visible to the management in order for you to get promoted. Regardless if you are tecnnically sound or not. Shell ADT engineers are not really engineers, they are people who just want to know “data analytics”. They celebrate wins that are based on office politics. They will promote you if you are good in showing up in events and programs, not on the technical basis, they will gaslight you and they will say its not really yet time to get promoted. Politics is so rampant. So the learning journey is so minimal. You are just playing so many events.

    Good facilities. Good office. not an engineering company, its a BPO company.
    The good thingsGood things, we have the best office in the Philippines. Gyms, PS5, Switch, karaoke room, cheap canteens yet posh, so many free foods during RTO.
    The challengesJob description during hiring is inflated vs. your actual work in office. They often hire top guns from top universities, but they often end up leaving after a year or 2 because the actual job is not challenging and they will sandbox you. Managers and leads are often gaslighting. This company is good for retiring engineers, but not for young, bold and ambitious engineers who want to grow their careers

    The good thingsShell is a global Company and you will work with diverse people all around the world. It will strengthen your collaboration and leadership skills that will prepare you for the future. The tasks itself will enhance your critical thinking and skills like continuous improvement and digitalization.
    The challengesShell always says its top quartile but it clearly doesn't. Shell doesn't provide retirement, 14th month pay, and other benefits that most Companies have. The Management is also bad. In order to accelerate your career, you have to network and be 'like' by the bosses. But to be like by the bosses, you have to be "yes" and "yes" kind of staff. You cannot speak your mind. If you do and it's against them, your career is over. That one instance you speak will be remembered and be taken against you in your 10yr career. They let go of smart, dedicated, passionate and hard working people simply because they speak up. Feedback is never ok. They'll just use you, but never support you to upgrade in the corporate ladder. HR won't be on employee's side either.

    IN DENIAL THAT THEIR PAY POLICY IS WAY OBSOLETE AND BELOW THE MARKET

    The challenges1. Politics can be so heavy. Promotion is not about your skills. It's about how Management like you. Of course they will like you if you always say yes to them. Power tripping is heavy. 2. Pay is way way below the market/industry. Their Specialist or Senior Specialist role gets almost the same as Analyst outside. Even Analysts can get 6 digits outside Shell. 3. They do not adapt with the future of work - remote working.

    The good thingsShell means it when it says their Core Values are Honesty, Integrity, and Respect for People. They say it, they mean it, and they act that way.
    The challengesShell has very high standards, that's expected for a Company that performs in the top echelons of business on a global scale. Though the standards are high, they are very reasonable, and the company exerts itself to provide the staff the knowledge, skills, organizational support, equipment, and leeway to get the job done excellently.
