    Science Park of the Philippines, Inc. (SPPI) was established in 1989 and, through the years, has gained the reputation of being a cutting edge developer of industrial estates through its Light Industry & Science Park projects. Today, SPPI is highly regarded as one of the pioneers and leaders in private industrial estate development in the country and has the largest hectarage of industrial estates developed and being developed with almost 600 hectares of aggregate area.SPPI started the development of its first industrial estate, the 178-hectare Light Industry & Science Park I (LISP I), in Cabuyao, Laguna in 1991, which was sold out by 1995. LISP I was the first privately-owned industrial estate to operate as a Special Export Processing Zone (Ecozone), under the Philippine Economic Zone Authority. SPPI’s second industrial estate, the 65-hectare LISP II located in Calamba, Laguna, started development in 1996 and was sold out in just two years.SPPI’s LISP I and LISP II are home to Fortune 500 companies and major multinational companies including Procter & Gamble, Unilever, Pepsi, NEC, NXP and ST Microelectronics ( both formerly Philips Electronics), First Sumiden, H.B. Fuller, Nippon Paint and Continental Temic, to name a few. Top Filipino export and manufacturing corporations therein include Concepcion Industries, Ionics Inc. and Fastech.Presently, SPPI is developing and selling three industrial estates namely: (1) LISP III, a 109-hectare industrial estate in Sto. Tomas, Batangas, which is accessible from Manila via the South Luzon Expressway and via Southern Tagalog Arterial Road(STAR) from Batangas City; (2) Cebu Light Industrial Park, a 62-hectare industrial estate in Mactan Island, Cebu, which boasts of the country’s largest desalination plant; and, (3) Hermosa Ecozone Industrial Park, a 162-hectare industrial park in Hermosa, Bataan, which is located between the Subic Freeport Zone and Clark Economic Zone and is accessible through the Subic- Clark-Tarlac expressway (SCTEx).
