SDO Laoag City was created by virtue of Article 5, Section 19 of Republic Act No. 5484. The said law grants the independent operation of Laoag City Division from the Division of Ilocos Norte on October 3, 1974. It is presently located at P. Gomez St., Brgy. 23, San Matias, Laoag City. Out of 39 public schools and one SUC, 35 are offering kindergarten, 35 are offering elementary, eight are offering junior high school and seven are offering senior high school. Out of 30 private schools, 23 are offering kindergarten, 17 are offering elementary, 11 are offering junior high school and 12 are offering senior high school.It is the first ISO 9001:2015 Certified schools division office in Region 1 and northern Luzon, aiming to provide its stakeholders with quality educational services at par with international standards while striving to continuously improve its overall system.SDO Laoag City is currently headed by Mrs. Vilma D.
