Brief History of DepEd Calamba CityBy virtue of Republic Act 9024, on April 21, 2001 Calamba became a component city of Laguna, where great expectations on different agencies were enhanced.The Department of Education – Calamba, a partner agency of the city government, pursuant to unnumbered memorandum dated June 12, 2002 of the Secretary of Education, Honorable Raul Roco, authorizing the creation of Calamba City Division, convey on to separate from its mother division, the Division of Laguna.Since the newly created division didn’t possess its own site building yet, Calamba East District, located at Jose Rizal Memorial School offered its office to be occupied tentatively by the Division Staff, Dr. Myrna P. Pamplona, the Assistant Schools Superintendent of the Division of Laguna was promoted and was tasked as the first Division Schools Superintendent, with the inclusion of some Education Supervisors from the mother division. Selected principals and head teachers were designated subject coordinators. Months later, non-teaching personnel were hired to serve as administrative personnel and staff. After a year, coordinators became full pledged Education Supervisors and serve as members of the promotional staff.Since there was an increase in the number of employees and there was a great need for more working space, the Division Office requested the Local Government, through the Mayor, for construction of a separate building for the Department of Education.The Local School Board proposed the construction of the building as per resolution number 25, s. 2006, supported and approved by the City Council by virtue of Resolution number 123, s. 2006.On January 9, 2009, the new Division office was turned over to and accepted by the City Schools Division Superintendent.Today, the Division of Calamba City seats on a 500 square meter site beside the New City Hall Bldg. at Chipeco Avenue, Real, Calamba City and handles 51 elementary schools and 21 secondary schools headed by principals or teachers-in-charge.Our Division Quality PolicySDO Calamba City, an institution of courteous, responsive, and service-oriented public servants, commits to the realization of DepEd’s Vision, Mission and Core Values anchored on the principles of Transparent, Ethical and Accountable governance in ensuring the delivery of support basic education services to all schools, learning centers and other stakeholders, through Continual Improvement and in conformity with relevant legal statutory requirements towards customers’ satisfaction in the pursuit of developing all types of learners.Our DepEd VisionWe dream of Filipinos who passionately love their country and whose values and competencies enable them to realize their full potential and contribute meaningfully to building the nation.
