The Presidential Management Staff (PMS) became "the PMS", as it is known today, on 08 July 1976, pursuant to Presidential Decree No. 955. In January 1987, the PMS was given a fresh mandate to serve the Presidency as the President's primary technical arm. Since then, the PMS has been the primary government agency responsible for providing technical assistance and advice to the President in exercising overall management of the development process (Executive Order No. 130 dated 30 January 1987 , as amended).Currently, the PMS provides responsive staff support to the Presidency and efficient and effective facilitation work on Presidential directives and priorities.
