It has been more than a century since Hizon Laboratory Inc. (HLI) first opened its doors, making it the very first pharmaceutical manufacturing company in the Philippines. Founded by Don Primo K. Hizon, this venerable institution was grounded even then in the font of knowledge and education for Mr. Hizon was a professor of chemistry at his alma mater who owned a drugstore, devoted much of his time and energies to research and often experimented with pharmaceutical preparations. The passage of years wrought many changes on HLI – it survived two world wars, the Japanese Occupation during the Second World War, destruction of its premises by fire and the permutations of ownership. Throughout the company never ceased to develop and introduce new medical products to its consumers. As its founder had envisioned more than 100 years ago, HLI continues to successfully serve the health needs of the Filipino people. It is inarguably the leading pharmaceutical company in the country today.
