What’s it like working at Fortem Cement Corporation?

    AI summary of recent reviews

Employees appreciate the strong focus on training and development at Fortem Cement Corporation, with continuous opportunities to learn and grow professionally. Management is hands-on and supportive, actively listening to concerns whilst gradually giving employees more ownership. The company offers clear opportunities for promotion, with many employees progressing from entry-level to leadership roles. The company culture is valued, with core values actively practised and leadership investing in team events and activities. Employees also note the care shown during challenging times, particularly during the pandemic, and appreciate ongoing process improvements to increase efficiency.

However, there are some potential challenges, such as the demanding and fast-paced environment with workload increasing during peak seasons. The company is currently transitioning from manual to digital systems, which requires time and adjustment during implementation. As the organisation grows, communication across departments can become more complex, though open channels exist for feedback. Some employees have noted that starting salaries may be slightly below expectations, though performance-based increases are provided.

Continue reinforcing corevalues and sustain investments in systems that support employees as we grow
The good thingsManagement is hands-on but is gradually giving employees more ownership and independence instead of spoon-feeding, allowing individuals to grow and prove themselves. The company’s core values (CHOPS ) are actively practiced, especially "S" for “Shared safety,” which is evident in how teams support each other across departments and locations. Leadership puts real effort into maintaining culture and relationships, with activities such as sportsfests, one-day leagues, and team events across different branches nationwide to help employees unwind despite a fast-paced environment. For the company’s 10th anniversary, management personally visited multiple branches and warehouses, showing strong commitment to staying connected with employees. Over the past few years, the company has invested in improving systems and processes to increase efficiency. While the transition required adjustment from employees, these changes are gradually making workflows more streamlined.
The challengesCompensation is generally fair for the workload, and the company continues to provide annual salary increases despite challenging economic conditions. While some roles or departments may feel slightly below market, expectations are usually aligned with the compensation provided, at least in my POV. The environment can be demanding and performance-driven, which may not suit everyone, especially in certain generations. Those who are not aligned with the company’s core values or pace may find it challenging to adapt. As the company grows, there are still opportunities to further improve efficiency and consistency across teams.

    Resilient, ever growing, and openness
The good thingseven with the current market inconsistencies, the company continuously implemented processes to help improve the overall flow and constantly listened to its employees' concerns to make things easier for us. We were still provided increases and good and new benefits even though economy hit hard and openly shows future plans to expand and to develop us further. Previously, there were feedbacks that work life balance is hard, the management listened, observed, and started recruiting more talents to balance the workload for us also FCC gives us a sense of security that we are covered and our future is always considered
The challengesSince our management is proactive with exploring new processes and improvements, it definitely takes a lot of our time. But overall, it will help smoothen things out in the future.
