What’s it like working at Acadsoc Limited?

    AI summary of recent reviews

Employees appreciate working with students who are often kind, obedient, and enthusiastic about learning. The role offers flexible scheduling with the ability to work from home and plot classes at convenient times. Technical support is available through understanding tutor managers and team members. The company provides free training and prepared lessons, helping teachers develop their instructional skills and gain valuable ESL teaching experience. Additionally, pay and bonuses can be competitive when teachers are fully booked with students.

However, there are some potential challenges, such as a strict penalty system with limited flexibility for circumstances like technical issues. Management and tutor managers can sometimes be difficult to reach, with response times occasionally exceeding 24 hours. The teaching platform experiences occasional technical issues, including lags and material mismatches. Policy changes, particularly related to Chinese government regulations, have impacted scheduling and booking availability. Teachers may also encounter challenging student behaviour and sudden class bookings that provide limited preparation time.

Challenging role with strict policies and low pay but built core tutoring skills.
The good thingsThe role has provided me with valuable experience in tutoring and helped me build a strong foundation in instructional skills.
The challengesThe work environment can be challenging due to strict policies, particularly the penalty system, which allows limited flexibility for reasonable circumstances. Additionally, the compensation is relatively low compared to industry standards, and the role often involves managing demanding interactions with students.

I bring a comprehensive set of skills in teaching English as Second Language to foreign students.
The good thingsI loved how supportive my team was whenever I get technical issues and student-end problems. It was truly a fulfilling and collaborative experience where I had the opportunity to make a positive impact not only to my students' language skills but also on their lives.
The challengesSome challenges that I had encountered were language barriers, student's motivation, diverse student needs, cultural sensitivity and assessment language development. These challenges are inevitable especially when we are teaching foreign students. However, these obstacles were surmounted with perseverance, flexibility, and a passion for teaching. To add, meetings and team huddles had been a great help to brainstorm what techniques and methods can be used to hurdle these challenges.
