What's it like to be a Security Manager?
A Security Manager is responsible for developing and implementing security procedures to protect an organisation's personnel and assets. They oversee the operations of security staff, ensure compliance with regulations and best practices and often act as liaison between the organisation and law enforcement agencies. Security Managers work in a variety of industries including corporations, retail, hospitals and educational institutions. In a rapidly changing security landscape, they must stay up-to-date with the latest tactics, technologies and threats.
Tasks and duties
- Designing and implementing security protocols, policies and procedures.
- Coordinating with management to identify the company's security needs.
- Training and supervising security officers and guards.
- Conducting regular risk assessments to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities.
- Implementing corrective actions to manage and mitigate risks.
- Overseeing the investigation of any security breaches.
- Maintaining a comprehensive understanding of regulations and laws relating to security.
