What's it like to be a Quality Control Inspector?
Quality Control Inspectors are tasked to supervise the production process. They ensure the quality and consistency of products that a company produces, or the goods that come into the company. These can be merchandised products from vendors or raw materials that are used to develop products.Tasks and duties
- Assessing the quality of products that a company produces before being shipped, or the goods that come in.
- Sorting and rejecting products that do not meet or comply with the company’s set quality standards.
- Regularly performing inspections in the production area to monitor compliance with quality control processes.
- Documenting inspection results and making recommendations to management to improve or maintain product quality.
- Analyzing the product, including its size and functionality, and comparing it against a sample product or set specifications.
- Resolving issues in the production process related to quality.
- Training the production team on maintaining quality in the assembly line.
How to become a Quality Control Inspector
While there is no specific degree to become a Quality Control Inspector, a degree related to the industry you are entering is usually preferred by hirers.
- 1.Take up a bachelor degree in a relevant discipline such as food technology (for the food manufacturing industry), chemistry or chemical engineering (for cosmetics or personal care), industrial engineering (for furniture or construction), or another relevant degree.
- 2.Gain at least 1 to 2 years of experience in manufacturing to become a Quality Control Inspector.
- 3.Be on the lookout for additional training or qualifications specific to your industry.
