What's it like to be a Driver?
Depending on the nature of the company they’re employed in, Drivers generally transport goods, materials, products, and people from one location to another. Most Drivers find their employment in ride-hailing services, restaurants, resorts, travel agencies, and delivery services. Using a navigation system, typically on their phone, they map their routes, ensure that the transport process is smooth, and that the parcel or passenger arrives safely to their destination.Tasks and duties
- Loading, transporting, and delivering items to clients or business establishments.
- Reviewing orders to ensure that the delivery is accurate and in accordance with the preferences of the client.
- Keeping a logbook or a record of travel and parcel shipments.
- Making sure that the vehicle is clean and has enough fuel.
- Keeping emergency kits and spare tires in case the situation calls for it.
How to become a Driver
There are no educational requirements to become a Driver. Although, you will need to acquire a specific and professional license to be able to operate a vehicle.
- 1.Acquire a government-issued driver’s license depending on the kind of vehicle you will be manning. Check with the Land Transportation Office for specific information on the requirements for each license.
- 2.Private companies typically require years of experience, so an entry-level job can be beneficial if you want to work with more complicated vehicles.
- 3.Specialist driving, such as driving an ambulance, fire engine, crane, cement carrier, will require you to undergo training. Each vehicle is different from one another, and so different sets of skills are necessary to man each one.
