What's it like to be a Construction Manager?
Construction Managers are involved in every stage of a construction project. They oversee the planning phase, then supervise the daily activities of workers once work commences. This includes coordinating with clients, and monitoring the overall progress of the project to ensure its running on time and on budget.Tasks and duties
- Planning and preparing the construction schedule.
- Supervising the construction of roads, buildings and other structures from planning to completion.
- Overseeing the daily activities of subcontractors and workers onsite.
- Ensure construction standards are met and proper materials are used.
- Coordinating with clients and third-party employees.
- Monitoring the overall progress of a project.
How to become a Construction Manager
To work as a Construction Manager, you need a qualification and a license from the Philippine Contractors Accreditation Board (PCAB).
- 1.Complete a bachelor degree in architecture, civil engineering, electrical engineering or construction management.
- 2.Gain experience working on public or private construction projects.
- 3.Consider taking a training seminar in construction project management.
- 4.Secure a license from the PCAB. This requires completing an application form and submitting supporting documents. Applicants must also be members of the Social Security System (SSS), Pag-IBIG and PhilHealth.
