General Services Manager

Working with a Vision for the Future
The good thingsThe top management is very focused and expects that all responsibilities are met in a timely manner. The reward for great work ethic and integrity is recognized. The annual performance review is very well done. The benefits for the employees are provided in a timely manner as well. The colleagues that I had were wonderful to work with.
The challengesThe responsibilities assigned may be very varied at times but that is what General Services is about. The department takes care of the non-core but essential functions of the company which can be very diverse at times. Delivering results in a timely manner can be difficult at times because of supplier limitations and this affects the performance of the department.

The compensation is good, the benefits are great and the co-workers are amazing.
The good thingsThey constantly challenge you thus preventing you from being stagnant. They are pro-employee as evidenced by their active training programs. Though no company is perfect, you can say the this company tries its best to cater the needs of the employees.
The challengesThe most challenging thing that I can point out is that the company is just in its growing state. System wise, they are far from complete. The processes and procedures are not yet well aligned. Inspite of this, they are doing their best to improve. It is just that the they are still too young.

Jeffrey Hernandez- Asst Talent Acquisition ManagerThis review was submitted a year ago. I can say that the compensation & benefits package of SteelAsia has improved this year. The company is doing well and in expansion mode that's why incentives and bonuses are continously being given to employees. Promotions and merit increases were given to deserving employees.

The Pioneering Team
The good thingsBeing a member of a pioneering engineers to lead the construction, machine installation and commissioning of the first steel manufacturing plant in Davao City is a blessing. I learned a lot in the construction side and I experienced what it's like to be a mechanical engineer doing tons of tasks in my field of profession. The experience in handling people and making big decisions are unforgettable.
The challengesDuring the commissioning period, we are having trouble dealing with the elder people from the other branches of the company. They have more experience in operation but they do not usually follow the real and true SOPs. They are used to trial and error method and they are more close to the management which made the pioneers gone one by one.
