    Computer monitoring expectations were not transparent upfront.
    The good thingsThey provide a desktop and an extended monitor. They also provide an extra allowance for employees who work in hybrid or onsite setups in the Philippines.
    The challengesThis company monitors employees by taking screenshots from time to time and tracking keyboard activity or keystrokes. My concern is that this was not clearly disclosed during the interview process and does not appear to be stated in the contract. To me, this goes beyond basic time tracking. Screen captures and keystroke monitoring affect privacy, trust, and how performance is measured. For a role that requires strategy, analysis, communication, research, and creative problem-solving, productivity should be based on output, quality of work, deadlines, accountability, and business impact, not constant screen visibility or keyboard activity. This level of monitoring creates a micromanaged environment. It can make employees feel pressured to appear active all the time. My main issue is not only the tool itself, but the lack of transparency. If this type of monitoring is required, it should have been clearly explained upfront and properly documented before employment began.
