OUR HISTORYBefore the advent of the Water District, the then Municipality of Sagay had two (2) separate water systems operating in three (3) of its largest barangays namely: Old Sagay, Poblacion, and Paraiso. The water supply system in Poblacion and Old Sagay was constructed in 1941 by the Local Government Unit. It utilized a well source located about 1.5 kilometers north of the Poblacion. The system also had a 400 cubic meter elevated Concrete Reservoir located adjacent to the well source. The water supply in Paraiso was established in 1957 by the now defunct National Waterworks and Sewerage Authority (NAWASA). The system used a 420 cubic meter Concrete Ground Reservoir which was elevated about 30 meters higher than the service area.Other facilities of the original water supply system included the transmission and distribution lines, valves, fire hydrants, and service connections. In 1961, another well source was added to the Poblacion-Old Sagay water system drilled at Poblacion proper. Then in 1977, an additional well source was drilled in Municipal Slaughterhouse to augment the supply and cope with the increasing demand. On July 11, 1979, Sagay Water District was formed by Virtue of the Sanggunian Resolution No. 49, Series of 1979, and was issued a Conditional Certificate of Conformance (CCC No. 129) on September 12, 1980 after it had complied with LWUA’s minimum requirements for certification program.
