It is a DOH retained, 500 bed capacity, tertiary hospital located at the heart of Nueva Vizcaya.It was established in 1918, by Dr.Gabino Vinluan, a former District Health Officer, with a mission to provide out-patient care as an Expanded Clinic of the Provincial Health Office. Seven years later it was officially named Bayombong Hospital. In 1972 it was renamed Major Ferdinand E. Marcos Hospital and grew from 50 to 100 beds. Two years after, it grew to 200 beds and converted it to Major Ferdinand E. Marcos Veterans Regional Hospital and promoted a greater efficiency and administrative flexibility.After the change of national leadership in 1986, the hospital was downgraded to a provincial level and was renamed Nueva VizcayaProvincial Hospital. Later in 1993, it was devolved to the local government unit but was subsequently renationalized on March 3, 1995 and was restored to its former status as Regional Hospital thru Resolution No. 95-03 of the Oversight Committee.The hospital being tertiary is mandated by the Department of Health as the Trauma and Blood Center of the area and being the end referral hospital of the provinces of Nueva Vizcaya, Ifugao, Quirino and Southern Isabela. It also serves patients from Cagayan and Nueva Ecija.With its legacy of excellence and upgrading buildings and equipment, Region II Trauma and Medical Center is in a position to realize a bolder vision as a forefront of trauma care in Region II by providing accessible,equitable and excellent healthcare services through people centered innovations by empowered and competent professionals.
