good at window-dressing, poor at walking their talk; toxic, understaffed, and underpaid
The good things1) opportunities to meet different people and communities; 2) some competent and supportive colleagues and supervisors; 3) can be a good first job, especially for those starting in the development sector
The challenges1) limited career growth; 2) chronic understaffing and heavy workload; 3) toxic culture and internal politics, especially in the operations (dir.'s favoritism, gossip, and poor conflict management); 4) too much work, almost everyone is underpaid; 5) decision-making feels top-down; staff and partner communities are rarely consulted; 6) high contractualization rate; just a handful of regular positions; 7) some directors/management members display unprofessional behavior and chronic anger issues including public shaming of staff; 8) those favored by ops dir. can get away with doing anything; 9) extremely cramped workstations and lack of ergonomic considerations; 10) HR often comes across as insensitive and unconsultative in handling employee concerns & scheduling activities

The challengesToo much workload and some employees from other department are bossy and demanding. System is inefficient and workflows are always bypassed for the convenient of other employee. My last pay takes 2 months to process and HR are unresponsive when it comes to update.

The challengesstress, work-life balance, just follow what you were told (no questions asked), expert in window dressing, autocratic leadership, they expect you to work beyond office hours, walang puso para sa isang organisasyon na puso ang pinaka mahalaga.

    MY MEANINGFUL CAREER AT PBSP
The good thingsSERVICES BEING PROVIDED WERE HIGHLY RELEVANT TO THE NEEDS OF THE TARGET BENEFICIARIES; MODALITIES FOR SERVICE DELIVERY ARE DISTINCTLY PRO POOR. THE STAFF ARE PROVIDED WITH PERSONAL PROTECTION BEFORE THEY CAN BE DISPATCH TO THEIR RESPECTIVE FIELDS/AREAS OF ASSIGNMENTS; THERE HAS BEEN NO INSTANCE OF DELAY IN PAYMENT OF SALARIES AND DUE EMOLUMENTS.
The challengesSTRINGENT REQUIREMENTS FOR PROMPT SUBMISSION OF REPORTS AND PROJECT PLANS OF WORK/WORK PLAN; THE PERIODIC PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL THE RESULTS OF WHICH IS MADE BASIS FOR MERIT INCREASE, SALARY ADJUSTMENTS AND/OR PERTINENT PERKS IN THE EMPLOYEE'S STINT WITH THE ORGANIZATION.

The good thingsWorking with a wide variety of highly professional individual that will gain you a more empowering experience,, travel a lot to meet people around the country. Working great with full tea, support. Learn a lot from different assignments.
The challengesMy English communication is not that great,, since I encounter many clients from different parts of the country it is necessary to have a great English background. In reality I think that the job was not for me since sometimes I didn't meet their expectations. Another thing is because it is in Manila and I live in Batangas I find it hard to go at office.
