Cua together with his wife Nancy thought of starting a business of buy and sell of the province’ major product- Abaca/Hemp. In 1990, they founded a small business in San Andres, their hometown. Just in two years’ time the couple decided to bring their business to the capital town of the province. In Virac, their two toughest competitors were CHING BEE and TAG FIBER. But because of diligence and fair trade practice, the abaca venture was successful.Year 1996, then Governor Leandro Verceles Sr., one of the stockholders of Calixta, offered Calixta I to him. December of that same year, he planned to buy another ship through Chattel mortgage. Through his loans from banks and offering his properties as collateral, he bought a ferry boat and named it STAR FERRY I. It made its maiden voyage at San Andres in February 7, 1997 playing the route Virac-Tabaco.Like his other businesses, with his magic touch, the ferry business became successful. He was able to purchase two more ships -Calixta II and Calixta III. In the year 2000 he sold Calixta I and bought Calixta IV.Another facet of business opened up when CALTEX GASOLINE STATION in Francia was sold to him and the subsequent acquisition of the CALTEX DEPOT in Palnab which is now known as POWERZONE. With this, ISLAND GASOLINE STATION 1 was born in San Andres.
