Based on the existing CLUP, the Economic Development Goal of Medellin is to upgrade and diversify the economic base of Medellin through agro-industrial development , trade and industry and tourism. Its objectives include the promotion up-to-date farming and fishing technology, intensifying agro-industrial activities, implementation of Strategic Agriculture and Fishery Development Zone(SAFDZ), promotion of tourism and investments, improvement of infrastructure support, adoption of land use policy supportive of economic development and adoption of a coastal zoning ordinance.
